Young aviators wanted: Take to the skies with a free introductory flight

Young aviator

Got a child who's always looking up when planes fly overhead? Here's their chance to leave the ground and experience the thrill first-hand.

The Penticton Flying Club is offering free introductory flights for youth ages 8 to 18 on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026.  Participants will enjoy a 15-20 minute flight and get a unique bird's-eye view of the South Okanagan.

The pilots are generously volunteering both their time and their aircraft to inspire the next generation of aviators. Whether your child dreams of becoming a pilot or simply wants a new adventure, this is an experience they won't forget.

What to expect

This event is much more than just a flight. Families will have the opportunity to:

  • Take a free introductory flight (ages 8 to 18)
  • Explore a variety of aircraft up close
  • Meet experienced local pilots
  • Learn about aviation
  • Enjoy a memorable day at the airport
